Opening to Beautiful Moments

I was sitting this morning by the light of my Christmas tree, while it still remains, meditating. Something about the twinkling lights felt like worth moving from my usual morning perch to bask in their glow.

As I meditated, I came back to a mantra that I have loved for many years (maybe decades). It is a beautiful mantra from Thich Nhat Hanh, reminding us to come back to the present moment. Nearly every time I use it, something miraculous happens: I feel my nervous system relax; a calm comes over me that wasn’t there a moment before.
